A Traveler’s Take on Returning to Piedmont

I was born in August on Friday the 13th, 1999 in Dacula, GA. Since then, my life has been pretty weird. I’ve played almost every sport, played piano for seven years, and have fallen in love with writing for much longer. I started honing my skills by joining my high school yearbook staff and being co-lead writer and design editor for three years.

Last year, I had the opportunity to travel to Italy and fell absolutely in love with it. The people, the food: everything about it was pure heaven. I took a Maymester trip to France and even though it poured for most of the trip, it was still an amazing experience.

As a returning Piedmont lion, I’ve noticed that this year seems much less intimidating than last. Maybe it’s because I’m not a freshman anymore (I’m one credit hour short of being a junior), maybe it’s because I’ve made friends that I know I can rely on, or maybe it’s because I’ve found a home in the Mass Comm department.

I’m usually pretty shy unless someone else initiates the conversation. It’s something that I’m working on. But I like to challenge and push myself to try new things and be better.

I’m currently a Mass Comm major with an Art minor planning to pursue a Master’s in journalism after I leave Piedmont (fingers crossed). I’m a section editor for the yearbook staff and have a part-time job as a graphic design assistant on campus.

I’m sure Joe’s class won’t all be sunshine and Ke$ha, but it’s nice to  see so many familiar faces and I’m excited to greet the new ones.IMG_3497
